Angelique Hernandez, a 44-year-old from Ocala in Marion County, Florida, is now one of the state’s lottery millionaires. She turned a $20 ticket into a $1,000,000 win playing the Florida Lottery’s Gold Rush Legacy scratch-off game.
She bought the winning ticket at a Publix grocery store at 10301 SE U.S. Highway 441 in Belleview. Rather than take long-term annuity payments, she traveled to the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee on February 5, 2026, to claim her prize in person. She chose a one-time lump sum payout, taking home $640,000.00.
The $20 Gold Rush Legacy game launched back in April 2024 and has become popular with Florida players for its deep prize pool, over $894 million in total cash prizes, including four $10 million top prizes and 20 prizes of $1 million. Hernandez’s win beat the game’s overall odds of 1 in 2.97.
